In 2003, a lightening strike ruptured a pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) in Sayreville. The Authority’s coordinated response and use of state-of-the-art tools to analyze the break and monitor the systems became a model for the industry. Since 28,000 miles of PCCP has been installed across the country, the case study below is meant to serve as a resource for others.
